ASIAN/EUROPEAN LANGUAGES PROGRAM

Students learn the language and culture of English and their major language to become trilingual.

The seven courses include French, the official language of the United Nations and the European Union; Spanish, the official language of 18 Latin American countries, including Spain, Peru, and Argentina; Chinese, spoken in China and Taiwan, which are experiencing remarkable economic development; Korean, spoken in neighboring countries where cultural exchange is flourishing due to the Korean wave boom; and Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai, which are expected to develop further in the future. The program offers seven courses in Southeast Asian languages (Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand) and English, all of which are expected to develop further in the future. The program aims to nurture human resources who can serve as a bridge between Japan and other countries by learning each language and its background culture. Students begin with basic expressions used in daily life in each major language, building a foundation of communication skills in two years, and are prepared for various career paths, such as employment, university transfer, and study abroad.
