The best thing about Kanda Institute of Languages is the "closeness to teachers. Symbolic of this is the "FLL" program, in which teachers in the department provide study support outside of class, such as after-school hours. Students can have one-on-one Chinese lessons with their teachers, or they can enjoy conversation in Chinese with their classmates. Because students can freely participate across departmental boundaries, I sometimes attend the Indonesian FLL as well. I started learning Chinese from scratch, so it is interesting that the more I study, the more I can express myself. In July of my sophomore year, I passed level 5 of the HSK, the second most difficult test. In December, I was able to obtain the sixth level, the most advanced. English was my weakest subject in high school, but now I love it. Thanks to kind teachers and enthusiastic classmates, I am enjoying my daily studies and have improved my TOEIC? by more than 300 points. I would like to study comparative research on East Asian cultures at university, and in the future, I would like to work as a bridge between countries as a multilingual speaker.

I decided to enter Kanda Institute of Languages because I was attracted by the ability to learn multiple languages in a short period of time. I chose Chinese because China's economic development at that time was remarkable, and I was certain that Chinese would be useful in the business world in the future. My fondest memory is the All-Japan Chinese Speech Contest in Tokyo, which I entered in my second year. I was able to win second place in a competition in which university students and graduate students also participated, which gave me a lot of confidence. My teacher not only corrected my speech, but also listened to recordings of my speeches and gave me advice on pronunciation. I used to be a shy person, but through this contest experience and short-term study abroad, I became able to speak openly in front of people without fear of making mistakes I think my communication skills have grown the most in two years.
After graduation, I studied abroad at a university in Shanghai for one year. I was very encouraged by the daily consultations with my professor regarding my choice of study abroad destination and subsequent career path. After returning to Japan, I found a job at a global logistics company and am now working at a trading company run by a Chinese president. Although I work in Japan, the majority of the employees are Chinese. I work in Chinese and English on a daily basis. I am often praised for my pronunciation by business partners because of my studies at Kanda Institute of Languages. I am now benefiting from the intensive instruction I received in pronunciation in my first year, which is the key to learning Chinese. In the future, I would like to use my language skills to start a business and contribute to the economic development of Japan and China.
